Ioana Harasim is a self-taught artist from Romania, using the digital medium to explore surreal themes. Her visual style can be described as a mix of realism with doodles, solid shapes, and bursts of contrasting colors. The inspiration for her body of work comes from fashion, people, nature, art and hidden feelings.
Marie Claire China commissioned these three illustrations to accompany an article on the booming of the Chinese fashion market in the latest years, Chinese fashion brands, how clothes shopping has changed along with the technology we use – as lately online shopping has become more prevalent than in-store purchases. I received some guidelines and suggestions at the beginning – mostly to get a “pop-cool feeling”, but mostly had a free hand to come up with the ideas for the compositions.
